Richard R. Kuritz born in Florida, Richard graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of West Florida in 1989. He completed his first year of Law School at Loyola New Orleans, Louisiana where he finished in the Top 10% of his class. He transferred to Florida State University College of Law where he graduated with Honours in 1992.
Upon graduation, Richard accepted a position as an Assistant State Attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit in the Duval County Office. At the time he left the State Attorney’s Office he was assigned to the Special Assault Division (Special Victim’s Unit).
In private practice, Richard has been involved in a large number of high profile homicide cases. He is one of only a few attorneys in the Northeast Florida area qualified by the Florida Supreme Court to handle Death Penalty cases. Richard won his first three First Degree Murder trials. He also won a reversal the first time he argued a Death Penalty case in front of the Florida Supreme Court and the critical issues were DNA, Evidence Tampering and Witness Tampering.
Richard R. Kuritz is a member of the Florida Bar, the Colorado Bar, United States Supreme Court, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Capital Crimes Commission, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Jacksonville Bar Association.
Richard R. Kuritz is a trial attorney and has tried all types of cases, ranging from a Civil Infraction (traffic ticket), to DUI’s, Drug Trafficking, Capital Sexual Battery to First Degree Murder cases, as well as several Personal Injury cases. Richard has also been retained to assist in Homicide cases in Georgia and Mississippi.
